The collision occurred in Dutchess County, in the town of Wappinger, at about 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, on All Angels Hill Road near Dugan Lane.

According to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Infiniti sedan with five occupants was traveling southbound on All Angels Hill Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Watterson said the car left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Killed in the crash was Yanique M. Jackson, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, who was the rear passenger-side occupant, Watterson said.

He was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie with life-threatening injuries and then later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other occupants were transported to area hospitals with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Watterson said.

"At this time, unsafe speed is believed to be a factor in the crash," he added.

The Sheriff's Office’s Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit continue the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the moments leading up to it is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau at 845-486-3820.
